Get ready for the Quirky Creations Robo Revolution, where campers dive into the exciting world of coding and hands-on building with the Lego Spike Essentials Kit and Makerzoid Robotics Kit! They’ll follow step-by-step instructions using user-friendly software to build amazing contraptions and robots, then unleash their creativity to invent unique creations of their own.
For this module you will need:
1 tablet (iPad or Android) of your choice will be needed for each group of 2-3 participants
Lego Spike Essentials (1 kit for each group of 2-3 participants)
**The Lego Spike Essential app will need to be loaded onto each device

10”x10” Lego compatible base (Optional) to used as a larger building base for campers’ invented rides
When planning equipment purchases for this curriculum, base your estimates on an average group of 10–12 children. Within each group, children should be divided into teams of 2–3. Each team requires its own complete set of equipment. For example, if multiple groups are operating concurrently, ensure that every team within each group is provided with a dedicated equipment set. So for example: 10-12 children would require 4 sets of equipment.
The Quirky Creations Robo Revolution course is designed to build foundational skills in robotics and programming. Children will engage with the LEGO Spike Essentials Quirky Creations unit, where they construct and experiment with robotic models to understand basic mechanical design and engineering principles. As they progress, they transition to the Makerzoid robotics kit, where participants are challenged to design and build more advanced robots that require innovative problem-solving and creative thinking. Programming concepts are introduced using Blockly and Scratch, allowing children to bring their creations to life through coding while developing essential computational thinking skills. Overall, this module aims to foster technical proficiency, teamwork, and imaginative exploration in a structured yet engaging learning environment.
